Johnson Slough Yacht Club

The Johnson Slough Yacht Club located in the Golfview Hills Community in Hinsdale, Illinois, is dedicated to racing Sunfish as a pretense to partaking in the social activities normally associated with sailor's and those that tolerate them. Organized in 1957, the purpose of the Johnson Slough Yacht Club is to promote sailing, give sailing and other water related activities.  Membership in JSYC is open to all Golfview residents.  Membership does not require residents to have a boat to be a member.

For more than 40 years JSYC has hosted the last Regional Regattas of the sailing season for the Sunfish class. The Pumpkin Regatta is in late October, and is well attended by top-ranked regional competitors.

Social activities include the Commodore's Party, the Watermelon Race and the Don Mitchell Race on July 4th.  We have summer events with dates provided at the Commodore party in May. 

If there is interest in the community, a Junior Yacht Club can be organized.  This would be for young people ages 8 to 16 years who wish to learn sailing, sailboat racing sailing rules and safety.   Parents must participate with their children and are asked to join the Yacht Club.  Sailing lessons are given and boats can be made available.
